![]() On October 26th AtlantiCare Behavioral Health’s Hammonton After Three program had the privilege of hosting Governor John Corzine for almost two hours. After reinstating the original budget for the 83 New Jersey After Three Programs across the state, Governor Corzine decided to visit a South Jersey program to see how the funds were being implemented. The New Jersey After Three staff from New Brunswick chose the Hammonton Program as a good showcase to display all the benefits after school programming can offer. Governor Corzine arrived by 3:20PM and spent about twenty minutes talking with Mark Valli New Jersey after Three Director, Loretta Rehmann School Board President, Kristina Erman Principal of WES and Jennifer Kiskis Site Coordinator of the New Jersey after Three grant here in Hammonton. During this time Mr. Corzine asked questions directly related to outcome, programming, integration of school material and over all curriculum of the program. From there the Governor walked from room to room seeing a wide variety of programming offered by the Hammonton After Three Program. His visit ended with him saying a few words to the students in the program and encouraging them to keep up the good work. The students then presented Governor Corzine with a T-shirt and a banner they had made asking for support for after school programming. Upon leaving Governor Corzine said “After seeing a program in motion, I can see that it is money is being well spent” Hammonton After Three is an after school program that provides a wide variety of activities to 230 second through sixth graders each day after school. The program is funded by a combination of the New Jersey After Three Grant and the Family Friendly Center Grant. Some of these activities include homework help, relaxation and stress management, physical education, Junior Achievement, theme based lessons, karate, Pine Wood Derby, sports and many many other activities. The program also helps build character development through such things as fundraisers to help support local charities. This program is free to all students attending the Warren E Sooy Elementary school. Hammonton After Three is run by Jennifer Kiskis and April Saia co-coordinators and supervised by Tricia Donio from AtlantiCare Behavioral Health’s Family Friendly Center.
